One of the best-loved characters in Scottish comedy is back for a brand news series, as Gregor Fisher once more breathes life into Rab C Nesbitt. This six part series reunites Elaine C Smith as Rab's long-suffering wife Mary and newly-turned career woman Mary Doll, Tony Roper as Jamesie Cotter the snake who’ll go to any lengths to get a woman into bed and Barbara Rafferty as his Mrs - the acid-tongued Ella Cotter. A Comedy Unit Production for the BBC, Series Nine is released on DVD from 1st March. Rab C Nesbitt is back and he’s got more issues than ever to get off his string-vested chest. Rab faces a daily struggle to keep drink out his life and let God into it. Plus, now he’s a Grandpa, Rab’s delighted to become reacquainted with his grand-daughter Peaches. Elsewhere Rab embraces his feminine side and restyles himself as “Candy” as part of his most outrageous social security scam yet. He turns rabble-rouser to fire-up the community when a mobile phone mast drives everyone up the pole. He finds poetry in a Gents urinal at a posh supper for his namesake Rabbie Burns. He tries to stop his best mate murdering his wife. And he racks his brains to offer crumbs of comfort and a last fish supper to an old woman on her deathbed. Series Nine features guest appearances from John Gordon Sinclair as Lonny- Rab’s partner in crime and women’s clothes, David Hayman as sinister Minister Reverend Marr and John Michie as slimy filth magnet Saunders McLure. Whilst Sanjeev Kohli plays Mr Khan a mobile phone technical expert and Greg McHugh plays the DSS Clerk, Liam O’Hagan. Plus Iain Robertson joins the cast to take over the role of Rab’s son Gash Nesbitt and Cora Bissett pours the pints as Camille the barmaid in Rab’s local pub, although it’s strictly soft drinks only for the regular in the string vest.
