Synopsis

Abby and her mismatched family of survivors return in the second series of the fantastic re-imagining of the classic Seventies BBC drama series, Survivors. Adrian Hodges’s exciting new adaptation of the adventure drama series, based on the novel by Terry Nation, focuses on a world in the aftermath of a devastating plague. Starring Julie Graham, Max Beesley, Paterson Joseph, Zoe Tapper, Phillip Rhys and Robyn Addison Survivors Series 2 is released on DVD from 1st March priced £24.99.

The new series begins moments after the dramatic cliff-hanger to the first series. The survivors are now struggling, not just with the difficulties of day-to-day life amidst the ruins of the post-virus apocalypse, but also with the threat of other emerging communities and the scheming of the sinister Lab where we find Abby being held by Whittaker and Fiona. There, she learns that the scientists have avoided infection and are looking desperately for a vaccine which they believe her unique immune system alone will generate.

Meanwhile, the family races to save Greg's life as he lies dying from a gunshot wound. Drawn into a burning hospital by their search for the necessary medical equipment, Al and Anya are caught in an avalanche of rubble as the building collapses around them. Tom is faced with the stark challenge of rescuing his friends from a seemingly insurmountable disaster, with only Sarah and Naj to help him.

As the series unfolds and the tension mounts, the threat of danger, concealed secrets, lies and violence is eternally present, and the group is forced time and again to ask themselves: are they in it together, or is it each man for himself?

Many of the cast return for this high-octane second series including Abby (Julie Graham, William and Mary), a devoted mother with a missing son; Tom Price (Max Beesley, (Hotel Babylon), a handsome, dangerous and a high-security prisoner before the virus hit; Greg (Paterson Joseph, Peep Show), a loner, hiding the pain of his past; Sarah (Robyn Addison), a hedonist used to getting her own way; Anya (Zoe Tapper, Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky), a doctor who has seen too much plus Al (Phillip Rhys, 24) a playboy who becomes a surrogate father to the young and headstrong Najid (Chahak Patel). This series also features guest appearances from Geraldine Somerville (Harry Potter), Nick Gleaves (Murderland), Nikki Amuka–Bird (No 1 Ladies Detective Agency) and Patrick Malahide (The 39 Steps).
